Scripts like WHOA
So, this has been an interesting week.
I banged out tech like a mofo. Really, it was intense. My body and my legs are having a come to Jesus moment right now in the aftermath of all the dancing. Thank God I get three nights off. This show is like squat Zumba for and hour and a half plus sing ALL THE THINGS. I love it, though. And our CD comes out this weekend! I really can't wait. So much fun! I'll post some gratuitous performance shots at the end of the blog. :)
But in the midst of techweekageddon, I have been trying to look at all the sides. Oh boy, so many sides! And researching the products, too. Some of them I know really well. Oscar Mayer, well I grew up on that. Claritin? I have allergies, oh yeah! Everything else definitely requires more in depth analysis on my part, plus character work.
Thank goodness for my lovely classmates, especially CJ, who has kept me in touch with what's going on in class and what I need to drill down on. If I had to be performance ready on all the things tomorrow I think I'd pull out my hair. I've been catching 30 minutes here or 15 minutes there when I got a chance to work on things, but there's nothing like a couple of hours or more of absolute free time when you can sit in silence and work on something. Thanks to icy roadways I will get that time tonight (in addition to a couple of hours of work this past Sunday) so I'm hoping to be in good shape.
I'm going to try not to worry too much about it. I think I try too hard about 90% of the time. I'm used to having long rehearsal periods where I get to know the material so well I don't have to think about it anymore. I need to figure out how to get there in about 24 hours. I really envy actors who can do that. It's a skill set like any other, though. Some people come by it more naturally than others, but it just takes practice.
So, without further ado, performance shots...
